I'm sorry I'm a little behind in the blog.  Yellowstone, where we spent Sat & Sun, has absolutely no cell phone coverage, so no internet either.  It did simplify things a bit!  I'll try to catch up in the next few days.

Day 9 (Maintenance & Travel day) Rapid City, SD - Greybull, WY 339 miles (total now 2420.7 miles)
The day started with a trip into Rapid City to have the windshield replaced.  We had encountered (2) rock chips in Illinois while going through some highway construction a couple of days before and cracks had radiated from the chips longer each day.  On the way into town we saw a number of hot air balloons.  The replacement took about 2 hours and we went and had breakfast out (the first time on the trip)while the job was being done.  A most pleasant and efficient shop and everything turned out great.

The trip into Wyoming through Buffalo and the Powder River Pass (9666' ) was uneventful but very scenic.

Just before Buffalo we saw our first view of mountain wildfires, but luckily our route was south of the fire.  We were driving through open range for the first time (unfenced) and we only had one instance of a steer crossing in front of us.  At the KOA in Greybull, the proprietor warned us that at 9 PM we would hear a siren.  It was sounded each and every night.  The story was that the local volunteer fire department was made up of many seniors, and the rule was if they could still hear the siren each night, then they could continue to volunteer.
