Day 2  (A sightseeing Day)  After a leisurely breakfast, the 4 of us in Dave's motorhome went to Letchworth State Park (www.letchworthpark.com/)  about 20 miles North of our campground.  Letchworth is dubbed the Grand Canyon of the East, and it earns its name.  The Genesee River, which flows out of Lake Ontario near Rochester, has cut through the shale and soapstone rock strata of the area over the eons of time and now flows through the Park at an elevation of about 350-500 feet below the surrounding landscape.  There are 3 major water falls within the park ranging in elevation from about 50 - 150 feet.  There are numerous viewing spots along the paved roads in the park which accommodated Dave's 29 M/H comfortably.  The park is about 17 miles long but the main viewing attractions are clustered at the South end of the park in about a 5 mile area. Many walking trails are available in addition to the trails at the falls areas that take you to major viewing spots.  Some paths involve significant traversing of stone pathways/stairs.  One we took to the Upper Falls had 182 steps in addition to numerous sloped walking sections  (we counted the steps on the way back up as there was no signage telling us of the length of the trail at the top). (Whew!)  A thorough visit to these areas took up most of the day, and we returned to the campground around 5PM.  We found out later, that there was a parking lot at the bottom which we could have driven to that had an even better viewing angle and we wouldn't of had to walk uphill at all.
