Day 10 ( A short travel day into Yellowstone)   (177.5) miles  Total miles now (2600)
We left Greybull late in the morning.  Our trip took us through Cody Wyoming. It is claimed to be the rodeo capital of the world. We went through a mountain pass on the way which took us by the Buffalo Bill Dam and reservoir.

We entered the East Gate of the park at 3:15PM and on the ride to our campground (27 miles into the park) we saw our first buffalo in a roadside swampy area next to the road. (sorry no picture, traffic was heavy and the camera wasn't handy--shame on us) (More later with pictures).

We were camped at the Fishing Bridge campground, at the northern end of Yellowstone Lake. ( The lake is at an elevation of 7733' above sea level.  It is 20 miles long and 14 miles wide.)  That's 280 sq. miles or almost 10 times the size of the Town of Easton at 29 sq. miles.  This campground is the only one in this section of the park and is restricted to hard-sided vehicles only as it is an active bear area. (Black & Grizzly).  As the campground was at an elevation of 7792' above sea level, the nighttime temperature was below freezing and we were required to leave a faucet dripping all night in the RV to keep the plumbing from freezing. You can imagine what this did to our nighttime bathroom schedule!  We met a nice couple from Switzerland in the next campsite and shared stories over drinks before dinner the first night here.  They recommended a nice road through northern Washington which we plan on taking later in the week.
